Met with machinist the other day to show him what I had. Left the block and TRW pistons (w/rods) with him but held on to the crank for now.
Just from looking at it he thinks that its going to probably take .030 to clean up the rod journals, because of that spun bearing damage on the #1. This is what I was worried about. I could see where one of the rolled fillets on that journal is close to being shaved flat at one spot. Most likely, the crank would wind up being a .030 (rods)/ .010 (mains).
I know .010/.010 would be ideal. I think that even .020/.020 would be alright. But .030/.010 ?? Gonna need some advice on that one. Im thinking I might need to look for another crank, what do you guys/gal think? Dont really want to steal the crank out of the stock block thats in my car now. Would rather keep that together to go in another car or possibly just as a complete back up.
Oh yeah, the 204/214 Speedpro cam checked out still good, so I guess it will be going back in.
