I am still having trouble getting my GN to run right after I changed the timing chain. i know the timing chain is instaled correctly but it runs real rough. if the cam sensor is installed 180 off will the car still run? I put new plugs in it hoping that was it but no luck. I put the cam sensor in at TDC just after the 3 oclock position. i then turned the balancer 25 degrees ATDC and used the caspers cam tool to set it. what could be the problem????? please help

Hello chiken,

I believe if the cam sesnor is installed 180 out, the car will still run, but poorly.

I say this because the ignition does fire a weaker spark on the exhaust stroke. So, you may have the normal/strong one firing on the exhaust stroke, with the weaker one firing on the compression/power stroke.

While I have not experienced the cam sensor 180 out, I have had some incorrect Type II ign upgrade instructions that had me run the spark plug wires "180" out. It wasnt untill I saw the cylinder numbers marked on the ignition module were different than the ATR instructions before I caught the mistake.

So, I would recommend re-installing the camshaft sensor 180 from where it is now just to see.

Good Luck!
