Guys - I get the car back together after new blue tops, port and polished heads and port matched stocker intake.

It runs...I took it for a drive around the block the other day - under load it misses. I got about 5-7 PSI of boost and it continued to miss. It idles great and you can give it a few RPM's in park - no miss. Under any kind of acceleration while driving - slight miss that increases with pedal.

I checked the plug wires (brand new Taylor's) were all tight, FP is a 42 PSI - line off - plugs (CR43TS'S) all gapped at .035 when car put back together, new 87 coil pack and module....BUT - I haven't installed the Wallbro 307 yet.

Could this be causing my miss ? A possible original pump ...not being able to keep up the demand for fuel (42 PSI of it to boot) ?

Then after idilng it for awhile on the driveway the other day I get a SES light. So I check the code and its a 42 - Cam Sensor.

Why do I keep blowing Cam Sensors ? I've gone about 150 miles since my rebuild and i've gone thru 4 of them. Not GM ones but UAP / NAPA ones. Is that the problem here ? Use GM ? Or should I be looking at something else ?

Somebody ?

Help me out here gents....

I took my tank off today and pulled the pump...i need a new sending unit 'cause the old one's got rusty lines outside and one of them even has a small hole (vent tube thank god !)

gimme some feedback here

had the same problem.....i also had a bad FP so I replaced it w/ a Walbro 340 and still have some problems and also had an 87 CCCI which the prev. owner installed....well turns out one of the wires in the plug harness thing that goes into the right side of the CCCI was not fully pushed in....pushed her in and ran like a top:)

yours could be similar or different but its worth a look....took me a few days to find that damn glitch:rolleyes:

Check the grounds that go to the AC bracket. I had one come loose and it fried my sensor. Try gapping the plugs down to .030 and see if the miss goes away. Also, with it missing at that low boost, is the alt putting out?

I'll check the grounds...

But guess what I found today..I go to put the new sensor on and one of the wires that goes into the plug for the cam sensor on the engine harness side has come completely out.

Looks like a GND wire (BLK). SO I cut into the plug by removing some of the plastic and soldered it back into place.

Guess my cam sensor is prolly still good after all......

The ALT seems to be putting out okay...no idiot lights or anything and elect. power is good (headlights, dash, etc).
