yes the cam sensor is run off of the cam via a gear on the front of the cam.

I have the same issue as you. Need a gear. I have had no luck sourcing just the gear yet. I ordered one from T/A performance. They told me the 350 used the same gear and ship one out to me.....not the same. I think I'll just hunt down a new sensor(whole unit). Mine had 140+k on it anyway. Pretty worn out.

rockauto has cam sensors for less than $50.00 again. It is a Standard brand piece.

Standard brand only makes the cap, not the whole sensor. Their site shows the whole assembly but because of the low cost I had my doubts. I contacted them directly and confirmed that it is mistake and their webmaster is going to change it, as they only manufacture the cap.

www.advanceautoparts.com has the GP Sorenson brand for $125, and it is the complete sensor. They also have the Niehoff brand for $42, but it is just the cap. I just got a whole sensor from them.
I also got 2 from: http://www.discountautoparts.com/ Standard motor products PC16. It is the whole sensor, although, I had to wait over a month for them, because they were on back order.
I also found some Delco units locally for $357. They had two on the shelf, and two in the warehouse. I told him to keep them. Discountautoparts has the GM one listed for less I think. Good Luck.

does the cam sensor run off the camshaft also does anybody know the part number for this http://community.webshots.com/user/pugads650 its the last album thanks

I'm curious. Are you running a flat tappet cam or a roller cam? Because stock style flat tappet cams have that gear on them, and it's actually a part of the cam, and not removable.
roller cams do not have the cam as an integral part of the shaft and require a separate gear such as the one you see in the link.

Wagon,
You're making me a liar here :) You're saying PC16 is the whole assembly? Housing, shaft, gear, cap, etc? When I talked to Standard they told me they have never even made the whole assy....only the cap

Thx,

Sorry.

Yes, it is the whole sensor. Other's have gotten them too. Check out this recent thread: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1109345#post1109345
I will go home and double check them though, just to be sure. I know for sure that the GP Sorensen oneis the whole sensor though.

Yep, the GP is for sure the whole assy. Only problem is they are not available right now. Seems they have all been bought up. Please do check on the the CP16 part. The Standard part is avalaible for as little as 65 bucks, and the shipping weight is very low too. Both lead me to believe it was just the cap. Standard confirmed that assumption just two days ago. Hope your right and Standard is wrong. thx

I'll go right to the garage and check all three of them when I get home.

i need the the gear that ataches to the camshaft not the cam sensor gear the one that runs the cam sensor i have a billet roller cam

GP Sorenson, whole sensor.
Standard Motor Products, whole sensor. They look identical, even the ink markings, probably made by the same company.

As for the cam gear, what brand of cam is it? You will probably have to go directly to the manufacturer for one. I doubt that even vendors would carry that, although they may be able to get it. Unless, you are able to find someone that broke a cam in half, and still has the gear, which is unlikely, and I don't know if I'd want that gear anyways. Good Luck.

its made by comp cams i called them yesterday and they dont carry it i also called poston, kirban and rock auto
