cam sensor setting

hi all i was just wondering ,as far as the cam sensor setting goes ,im changing my friend s timing chain, it wasnt bad just that car has 102 000 miles .why cant i just put engine on tpds and put cam sensor back in the way it came out .i wont be turning the engine at lease i hope not. oh well just thought i would ask any comment s are appreciated. Technically, you should be able to do that. I marked mine before I took it out, and used Casper's tool to set it when I put it back in. All the marks lined up perfectly. You really should put a DVOM on it and check it, though, because it doesn't take much to get it out of whack.
