I have the Casper's tool and am trying to set the sensor. I turned the crank from 0 to 25, stopped at 25 and then rotated the cam sensor from clock wise to counter-clockwise and locked it down. Now if I turn the crank past 25 degrees and come back to 25, the LED is off by about 25 degrees. There is some play in the cam sensor both up and down (spring loaded) and left to right. Is this too much? The car has 44K miles and the cam sensor has never been touched. If you set it by going from 0 to 25 degree direction then it was off by about 5 degrees ( thats standing in front of car and rotating crank Clockwise).

Here's how i set em:
Assuming you already at tdc+25deg
stand on the driver side...
line up oil pump so it about 10 o'clock
drop in the sensor w/out the cap and get the gap in the ring at 6 o'clock and the notch in the housing at 12. Your gonna hafta start the gap to the right...around 4-5 o'clock cuz it'll rotate on it's way down.

once 12 and 6 are achieved....or as close as possible....stick the hold down bolt in and snug it...but make it so you can turn the housing.
put the cap on and plug in the casper thingy.
rotate the housing clockwise until the light turns off.....now the key......come back counterways until the light JUST comes on....STOP....now give it 1/8inch more. tighten it down and plug her in. If the car starts rough....give it a little tweak.....remember...a little does a lot.

I think you said that kickin the crank back counterclockwise made the sensor off....when you go counterclockwise...theres that little bit of play in the timing chain that the tensioner uses......in other words.....the crank is going backwards, but the cam isn't(for that little bit) Even if you hafta pass tdc and go all the way around...your better off.

good luck
