Can someone explain to me why alky is the preferred method over water?

i'm really curious as to why the alky/water mix is better than just straight alky or just straight water

i've read a lot of both sides but since a lot of you were using systems before what i knew what boost was.....

i think you can explain it to me best

A lot of people run 50/50 water and alky. Some 60/40 alky/water. The main thing with 100% denatured is that its consistant and it adds octane. Most of the experts on here run a water alky mix. It takes time to find the best mixture. The rest of us don't have time to make several back to back runs with similar conditions and set up to see what works best. Every car is different and likes a different setup. 100% denatured works very good, and I don't drive my car enough or have enough time to do the testing with the water alky mix. 25 lbs of boost 23* of timing, 93 octane and high 11s are good for me in street trim.
