The trans in my 86 T-type has a problem. Everythings works ok except that the shift points are very high. It will not shift unitl around 4000 rpms under a very light throttle. It does not slip at all, and the shifts are fine once they finaly get there. When putting the trans in drive from park it works just like it always has, the shift points are the only problem. Thanks for the help. Steve

Something's wrong with the govenor. Your t.v. cable isn't wicked tight right? The govenor comes out real easy so fixing shouldn't be to tough. Go to trans tech sec. ask bruce what's up. He sells reman govenors cheap (100$);)

Govenor spring....fell out........:D

Since his problems are there even during very light throttle, wouldn't it more likely be the TV cable pulled in too far?

I've seen too many people do that, think it's a cure for a lame shifting trans, so let's tighten the tv cable, na thats not enough lets go a little more----------- before you know it it's all the way in (it should pull out again I know) but I've seen them so tight the trans doesn't shift till real late (maybe not 4000rpm) but pretty close. Just my .02:)

Really? Jeez I've never seen anyone do that before. They must be real newbs. :p

In my defense, all I did was set it to factory spec following the recommended procedure. TV cables must stretch over time or something. At any rate, I can assure you an improperly set TV cable will cause late shifts. 4000 is pretty extreme though so to sum up...

What Russ and Bruce said. :D

Well I pulled the gov. and just Bruce and some others said the gov spring had fallen out. Mine was in not so good condition so I got a new one, but now which side of the gov does the spring go in? It has a place for one on both sides. Thanks Steve

I win!!! I win!!!

What did I win? :D
