i was offer an intercooled setup minus some parts pretty cheap,i can get the
upper lower intake, turbo and stock headers pulleys and brackets radiator no fans 3inch down pipe all for 400 bucks, what would i need to use this on a hotair minus inteercooler and can this work.i want my hotair to stay a hot air.
i would add a few other mods as well.but more access to parts like the 86/87,
a nice solid 13 sec street car on pump gas.i also can get the throttle body
has any one tried this on a hotair.my last turbo i would call and hot air was
and 88 merkur xr4ti 5spd with a couple off mods i thought modding that car
was hard but realize it wasnt that bad.

Keep your money in your wallet and walk. I would start by doing alot of homework. My 2 cents. Brad

I had toyed with the idea some time ago with an 85 GN, as I liked the idea of relocating the turbo to the front of the engine. Biggest problem I saw was making a new inlet pipe that would not be overly restrictive which would have been difficult given that it would have to be in a "U" shape. Came to the conclusion that if I was going to go that far, might as well just bite the bullet and intercool the sucker.

The conversion of a 84/85 car to a 86/87 has been done by many.
Do a search you will find lot's of info on it
I'm one and I'm in Conn.

I believe Thutch is specifically talking abuot using the 86-87 intake setup WITHOUT the innercooler and keeping it a H/A.

*I find this idea very interesting. I will be watching this thread closely. I'm not sure why it couldn't be done. Not sure you would OFFICIALLY still be a H/A though...after all it IS one of those 86-87 intakes and all! You will have those I/C guys ALL kinds of wound up!! :D Good luck and keep posting!!

yes that is what i am talking about,to keep the car hot air not go to the intercooled set up.i would like to use the intercooled turbo along with the
exhaust headers down pipe, and belt setup with the electric fans.as far as wiring i want to keep that stock if i can, intakes whats my options he has the
complete intake and throttle body.

okay here's my thoughts if i keep the hot air intake i want the turbo to blow
throw the throttle body ,so i would have and adapter fabricated to mount the throttle body in front of the inlet hole on the intake .or if i can use the
86 intake and throttle body but keep my original ecu.

thanks for the link jerryl thats what i needed,i was searching posts last night
but your link has given me a better direction.the guy doesn have the have the a/c compresser so should the 85 compresser bolt up to the 86/87 pulley
set up.i figure first i will install the 86/87 pulley set up along with the electric
fans.
