my car has an adjustable wastegate but i tried to turn it and its not budging...whats the trick? i am pretty sure it is an adjustable one...thats what the guy i bought it from told me...also i have the old one with out the threads...i dont want to mess it up doing something stupid...what should i do?

As long as it has a nut and some threads it should be adjustable. Just loosen the nut and screw the arm inward to give you more boost.

You first have to un-hook the wastegate acutator from the dp than you turn the nut towards the turbo every full turn is equal to one pound after you turn it however many times you do so nothing over 12-14 unless your racing, than you might have to pull the arm of the acutator in order for it to hook back on to the dp, dont worry it if its tough there is supposed to be play so pull and hook it back on and put the clip back on to make sure it donsent slip off

i disconnected it from the dp and the nut still wont budge...i dont know what the problem is...maybe it is all the way to the end already...im gettin my boost gauge put on in a couple days so i will be able to see how much boost it is getting then...but the nut on the waste gate wouldnt move either way...and i was holdin the wastegate with some vise grips...

I have the same problem but mine is stuck adjusted to 20psi (I can only go about 3/4 throttle). How do we fix this? I don't want to buy a new one but I've tried everything. Its like its seized.

It could be possible not enough of the thread was cut off,i If it was a do it yourself job. Or, could be it needs a shot of PB Breaker or WD.

Put it over an open flame (nut) and heat it up first before you get those vise grips on. Make sure you have another set of pliers handy to untighten it. just my 2 cents:cool:

i tried to get it off but it just wont budge...i want to turn the boost down before so i can drive the car again...what should i do? anyone know? it seems everyone i talk to has the same problem...i thought this was supposed to be adjustable...

Nuts off

Hello,

I think these threads are right hand.

This is kind of like a "doble nut" sort of setup. I am guessing that the nut is to stop it from loosening. try to hold the wastegate end with a vise grip or something and loosen the nut the "regular way" (lefty loosie, righty tighty) I would try to do it off the car.

I have found when things are double nutted, it can be tough to crack it loose.

If you are doing it on the car, make sure you are doing it the right way, you would have to lossen the nut "down" which would be left if you were looking at it from the diaphragm side.

Hope I helped ya.

i have not got a chance to try any of these ideas yet because i have been sick but i appreciate all the feedback and ideas...i will try in the next couple days when i get a chance and let u all know how it goes...thanks

i took off the adj. wastegate...first wirebrushed it good around the threads and nuts...then put it in the vice...then wd-40...the thing still wouldnt budge...i had the vice as tight as it could go but still nothing...at this time i gave up on the adjustable...went back to the stock one that the guy threw in the box of parts that came with the car...i put it on...took it out...no more over boosting...running nicely at 15 psi...just need to get some octane booster and it'll be good...thanks for everyones help...i just guess the adjustable wastegates nut got seized...maybe it couldnt handle the heat from the turbo...

HI,

Sorry you couldn't get it off. I got a new adjustable one in my box of parts that came with the car. I only want to run 15psi though. I have not driven the car yet and I am afraid to put the adj. on and have the car go to 19 or 20psi!!!!

I have to make a post about it...
