Car Alarm replacement remote ?

I have a factory installed alarm on my car and the keychain remote is really spent. the button is all cracked and I really could use a new one.

Anyone ever gotten one ?

Do you have to go through a dealer for these ? I called only one place so far and they said i'd have to.

I used to be in the car alarm business, so I hope this helps. First of all, no dealerships I have ever known did in house car alarms, that work is subbed out to a car stereo shop locally, this should be your first clue. Audiovox did a lot of factory type alarms under the name Pursuit. Check under the panel that covers your fuse box. Look for a black box, the black box will usually have a name on it (like Pursuit) Another popular brand are from DEI (Python, Viper, other snake names, etc.) Most have web sites to get replacement remotes.
