I believe he says "newer cars only".
Also, the cover of the magazine says "small cars-fast parts".
I only sped-read the article. I glanced at it on the way out of the store and I had one of my kids with me. I didn't want to buy it if they were Buick bashing...

Too cheap to buy and mod? When you can get a TR for $5-10K easy and get into the low 12s with less than $1K more?
I think this magazine is for "tuners": people who spend most of their time shaving tenths off their 15 second fuel-efficient 4-banger import.
After all, if a TR runs 12s after a fuel pump, regulator, and race gas, how can they write years of articles and sell subscriptions?

I saw that aswell. I flipped through 1 or 2 pages to the editorial and in bold print "NO BUICKS" it said. States they are to expensive to buy and mod. I then put the mag back on the shelf.
On Sat. March 13th the C & D TV show was titled "Boost". They featured two cars. First was a Celica GT with gutted interior, race seats, etc. With mods it turned 14.9 @ 93mph. Total cost of car+mods was 44K! Second car was a Civic Si. With mods it turned 14.7 @ 98mph. Whoopee! Car+mods came to 48K!!! Larry Webster couldn't rant and rave enough about these two cars. You could buy a stock C5 for that and blow the doors off either one in a straight line or corners and have a lot nicer car. And they say a TR is to expensive to buy and mod
What planet did these bozos come from When it comes to high perfomance cars they don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.I have seen many times where they have a 600hp car turning the quarter in a time that says the car has 480hp. And then in the very next article a car listed with 450hp looks like it has 525hp. They should stick to comparing shoe boxes and SUV's.
My guess would be that they don't want our Buicks in there because they couldn't justify 15K in mods to their ricer that can't keep up with 2K in mods to a Buick.

Look at it from a business standpoint, they need to sell magazines. Right now, the money is in small imports. These kids have lots of mom and dads money to burn.

Having a TR in this mag would be like having the only gun in a knife fight.
My next door neighbor is a publisher, and it is all about circulation and advertising. Who buys more magazines? Gear heads w/ turbos or import owners who wish they had a turbo. I guarantee it is the latter, and with higher circulation the publisher will charge more money for the advertising and those import advertisers are wanting articles that pitch their products. Very simple concept. For the most part, those import owners don't want to read about turbo Buick's and the advertisers are not going to buy advertising in a mag w/ Buick articles in it.
At least they are publishing ETs, unlike the vast majority of the tuner mags.
I enjoyed thumbing through the issue. I'm sure they'd print a response to the jab at Buicks concerning the turbo regals being faster than most of their coverage if someone sent in a letter. Don't think he was trying to say there was never a fast buick though, just that they won't be testing regular sedans.
I wish I could say otherwise, but from where I sit there really aren't any currently produced Buicks that excite their target audience.
