Pics really bring back memories. Was going to the Street Machine Nats back when it was in Indy back in the late 70's! Where was this even held?

Yep, at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, which, even though I'm not from there, seemed like the perfect place for it EXCEPT they had the burnout competition at the smaller place and not at the main grandstands, so it was nearly impossible to see anything unless you were right at the fence, it was weird. All in all, great show, definitely coming back next year.

What sucks is that your from Chicago and you made it. I am from MINNEAPOLIS and didnt make it. I tried to go today and find that TR but when I got there (at 4PM) it was all over.

Major disapointment and it sucks it wont be back until next year. The only thing keeping me from being really upset is that next year I will have my GN in the show.

me to. I made it to Indy in 77 and 78.. Once in a 69 Judge and next year in a 65 El Camino.. Those wee the days.

So you must remember the cruising on Shadeland Drive??

I even followed the Nats when they moved to Springfield Illinois and then onto DuQuoin Ill. Lots of fun.

what was it?? 5000 cars in the fairgrounds and almost that many more on the streets? Wild times..

I used to go to the Nats in DuQuoin too. I was there every year with my GN from 89 thru 93.

I went to the CC Nats in Syracuse NY in '91 or '92. It was not long after ZZ Top debuted their "Cadzilla" car.

Was there too but I think it might have been earlier than 91. My Chevelle was still red and wasn't pro streeted yet when I went. Tubbed it in 1990. ZZ Top had the red Ford Coupe there but can't remember if Cadzilla was there or not.

Remember the infamous Syracuse flies?? They were everywhere. If you had a black interior they swarmed to your car trying to keep warm.
