My tire blew out on Sunday while I was driving to work, and I lost control of the car on the wet pavement. The car spun and jumped a curb. There looks to be no body damage or frame damage at all, thanks to the low curb and high clearance under the car. Three of the tires went over the curb because they were inflated, but the flat one (rear driver's side) was low, and the brake drum clipped the curb. The drum and wheel snapped off, taking part of the rear axle with them. The broken wheel thankfully got stuck under the car as it slid along the sidewalk, saving the bottom of the car from scraping along the pavement. I'm okay, there were no injuries, and the car missed a big street sign by like 4".
Now I need to completely replace the entire rear suspension of the car. I need a new axle, from drum to drum. I need a new differential (posi), and new brakes also. The shop I work at is working on my car now, they said the front suspension looks okay, but they won't be able to tell the extent of the damage until they fix the rear and take it for a drive. I'll try to post pictures later today after my friend sends them to me.
Does anyone know of a good place to get some replacement parts for my TR? I was thinking about calling Brian Weaver, I've dealt with him in the past and he's been a huge help each time I've worked with him. I posted in the Parts Wanted section, but the Lounge gets more traffic, so I thought it couldn't hurt to post here too.
The shop is trying to locate the parts it needs for my rear, but they are having trouble finding them anywhere in MD. If I can get the parts cheaper, I'll save some money, so I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out, or has any suggestions for me. (Getting the car fixed would make a nice birthday present.)
