Car dying out issue

Drove my car today. Parked it, Realized I was a bit far away from the curb so I started it again, within 5 seconds it died. Tried several times, same thing, starts then dies out. Checked the forums, some said it could be the ECM.
1) I Unplugged the orange wire, waited 30 seconds, plugged it back in
2) Tried to start car, same thing, it stalls out
3) Unplugged orange wire for about 10 minutes, plugged it back in
4) Started right up

so my question is, what was/is the problem, was it the ECM or an overheating issue or something? is it safe to drive? dont want it to stall in the middle of a road. Anything else could be the issue?

Could be a mass air flow going bad. That's what happened to me as well When i first bought mine. A bad maf can play havoc if one is is going bad. If you have or can barrow a known working one swap it out and see if problem goes away.

strange thing is the problem DID go away, its started fine after 10 minutes, thats why I am confused, I assume if it was a bad MAF then it wouldnt auto-correct?

It may maf have gotten hot and the 10 min waiting it cooled down and not the unplugging the orange wire.

A bad MAF may start out stalling the car intermittenly then progressively get worse.
Both my stock MAF and my LT-1 MAF w/translator did this same exact thing when they crapped out.

Do you guys think its worth trying to clean it or is it a lost cause?
Where is the quickest place to buy a new one in store?

Make sure your getting spark when its not starting. The ignition control module can cause the same symptoms.

I would get up with Intercooled88s and see if he has a good working one. Don't think u can by a new stock one. Or up grade to a LT1 and translator.

Cleaning usually won't fix it..The electronic components are most likely
damaged or out of whack from the underhood heat cycles it sees..

Auto part stores do carry re-manufactured stock MAFs. However, most
are not calibrated correctly. Upgrade to an LS-1 MAF with a translator.
Full Throttle usually has them in stock.. They work really nice
