I have ahd this problem for about 2 months or so. My car jerks like the converter is locking and unlocking after going in to 4th. Really does it bad about 50-55mph, but going over 60-65+mph, it dies out. I already had the tranny done about a year ago. I had a new TCC solenoid in it. Could it have gone bad or could it be a loose ground somewhere? I don't have a turbolink or ds to confirm the converter locking or unlocking but almost am sure about it. It also does it really bad after I get on it. I have tested it by just goingabout 45mph till the converter locks up and then I barely press the brake to see if the rpm's go up. The rpm's do go up so I know the converter unlocks. What could it be? I am stumped and also I'm really not a tranny goo-roo. Any help?

TIA,

Are you sure that the engine is not missfiring? If you cant suspect a bad converter or electrical problem, I would start leaning on an engine miss. I have a car do the exact same thing.

Just help'n out.:)

I pretty much have a whole new ignition. I had a really big problem w/ my igniton and I got that all fixed. I am sure it is the tranny. I mean it jerks bad. I did make sure it was not a miss. It doesnt do it when it is cold. Thanks though 78olds. Anyone else?

Does the problem go away when you release the TCC by lightly depressing the brake pedal? If it does, you've somewhat isolated the problem.

I haven't really noticed that. I only did the brake thing a couple of times but I can't remember if the jerking went away. I guess I should of did that. I know it does unlock because the RPM's do go up. It is very intermitent. It someimes does it annoyingly and then it will sometimes do it bad, especially after I get on it. Are there any grounds that I can look at? I am just guessing but it seems like the TCC is making it do this?

After reading other post of identical problems, I don't know if it is the tranny. One guy thought it had something to do w/ his cam sensor or the cap. He described it as "fishbiting" which is exactly what it feels like. I guess yours happens around45 to 55 or so? I can't remember cause it has been a while since I have driven it. BTW- this all started when I messed around w/ the cam sensor. I am going to try and dodle w/ it again. I will try and set it again. You might want to try that but who knows if it will work. No one has really figured it out. Lemme know what happens if you figure it out.
