I have no luck with this car, the car will run for about 30 min then the voltage dies and so does the car. I have tryed three alt and they all do the same thing , the one that came from my 84 jeep seems to work a little longer then dies. If i put jumper cables on it it will start and run for about 30 min again then die. I dont get it. the car runs after the jumper cables are on at 12.6-11.3 then drops pretty fast after some time. Would this be a short , iam up for any ideas.

thanks for any help guys:)

Is that the voltage you are getting at the battery with the car running and the alt. hooked up?? If so, test the positive post on the back of the alternator and see what it is there. If it's the same reading, then the alternator isn't putting enough out and you need a new one. If the voltage is up around 14.00 volts, then there is a short someplace or there is a missing/bad connection someplace. Hope this helps.

Hey Crazy

I've read alot of your posts, even teased you some, but I honestly feel that your car has more than a few shorts. You might want to consider having an automotive electrician check out the harness from the firewall back. You might also consider a Caspers engine harness for next summer's fun. I also remember reading that if you have some rust starting on the near some of the sensors it can throw everything out of wack. Don't know if rust is an issue for you.

Man with all the time and money you've invested with the GN, You should be running low 12's at worst. Good luck buddy.

As soon as i come into some money i will be re wiring the car for sure. Its getting crazy now with the alt and dash lights , scan tool going crazy , i think thats what i need. I'll check the alt again tonight to see what the voltage is.

i think every one has seen my post:D

I think a new wiring harness from casper's would be just the ticket for you. Hope you find out what it is.

hey turbo6x2 , what do you have done to the rear to get that kind of 60'. Iam starting on mine soon all i can get now is wheel hop with sticky tires.

Check the build sheet on gnttype.com. It's all there. We basically replaced with upper and lower control arms, air bags and bilstien shocks. Running the air in the bags like Marka did on her hot air and added a little weight in the spare tire wheel well. The alignment was all done via hubby and let's just say it couldn't run any straighter. The tires are mikey thompson 10.5 x 28" et streets on Center line rims. Only thing we noticed is we need to do something with the lugs they are digging into the rim. This was also during a 50 degree day (or cooler) and on the 6th pass of the day. I had a couple 1.61 before that. I will check on the air pressure and get back to you. (for the air bag set up) Oh yeah we also went with the ATR rear sway bar, this seemed to help and compared to the stock one, much more beefy...

Well this is what i will be doing then , thanks for the help. Heads and new cam in the winter after the rear is done.
