I have a 1984 GN that was completely stock. I recently did the following upgrades: Walboro340 fuel pump, hotwire kit, billet adjustable fuel pressure regulator, heated O2 sensor kit, 160 thermostat, 42.5lb fuel injectors, and street chip for 91 octane. Since doing the upgrades, the car has really woken up, but i'm having a big problem.
I can have the car at a stop with it idling, but if I don't have the rpms at atleast 1500 when taking off from a full stop, the car will stall out. I don't want to raise the idle, and have already checked for leaks in all the upgrades that were done. So, I think i'm going to need to buy a scantool so i can retune the car and hopefully get this issue sorted out.
What would be the best tool to get this done using the 84-85 ECM. Most of the scantools I looked at online were only for 86-87. If anyone knows which ones would work with my ECM/where I could get one, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have suggestions on other reasons the car may be stalling in first?
