Hi guys, My 87 gn pulls really hard from 1st to second and in second to the top. 19psi boost, but it stays in second way too long, it will peg out the rpms around 6000 and take about 5-10 seconds to shift into third , this reallly sucks racing, anyone know whats up..

Did you check your TV cable?

is first shifting perfectly? or at 6000 also?

first shifts fine

first shifts fine close to 6000 though, but it feels like it still makes power getting up to that level. perfect shift. its when it redlines in second and stays their for a 5-10 seconds before shifting into 3rd. it feels like it falls on its face, but boost is still at 19 or so.

i'm not sure, but i think 6000 is too high

is your gov shifting gears? check tv cable on gnttype

Mine used to do the same. Put it a quart over on fluid and that cured it. Vendors told me cavatation was causing it.

This isn't that uncommon. Have you had any work done on the transmission, i.e. shift kit, governer adjustments? Is the fluid level correct? How hard does it shift under normal driving? If the TV Cable is set too tight, it will do what you're describing, but it will usually also shift VERY hard, as well.

Have you tried just shifting the car manually? If you're running the stock cam, the engine's done making power way below 6000 RPM, anyway.
