CAr would not shut off......

Hey guys, weirdest thing happened yesterday. When I went to go turn the car off, alll electrical stuff turned off EXCEPT the engine, including the fans. The car was supposed to off, I even had the key out. So I was sitting watching my cars temps go higher and higher until they reached almost 230 Then I went ballistic and somehow turned the car off. What would cause something like this? it scared the hell out of me.

how long did it run for:
Emergency stop maybe rather than watching the temp go up like that, would have been to maybe disconnect the orange ECM wire directly off of the battery, the fuel pump connect back in the trunk, or maybe the battery itself.
I am sure that some more experienced people will chime in here.

I disconnected the battery, in hopes that it would eventually shut off but it kept going and the temps kept rising it was the craziest thing I ever saw. Also it ran for about 10 minutes or more.

I am only guessing for an emergency fix to keep from overheating should it happen again disconnect the orange wire coming directly off of the battery, shuts down the computer, I think, or disconnect the hookup in the trunk on the driver side directly behind the rear tire and under the rug, disconnects the fuel pump or fuel pump relay.

Pull the hotwire.I wouldnt pull the ecm with the car running.

I did the "hotwire" modification to my car and the first time I started the engine went to turn if off and it kept running even with the key in the off position, turns out that when the hot wire mod is done one of the wires going to the fuel pump needs to be cut, if not cut it will continue to run....and sorry I don't know which one it is.

Sounds like bad ignition switch on top of the steering column.

If it ever happens.. pull the ECM orange plug by the battery. Disconnecting the battery wont stop it since the alternator is charging.

HOW

Same thing happen to mine when I hot wired my fuel pump to a manual switch. If you leave the switch on with power going to the fuel pump the car would keep running. Flip the switch and the car would shut down.

Did you make your own hot wire kit? If so that is the problem. You need a realy or to move some wires
