83 carbed turbo regal, ran flawlessly, and all the sudden now it doesnt want to start up. it will turn over and over but wont start up, only thing i did was install my boost gauge it it worked good, and ran good for a day or so... my brother said the same thing happened to his gto, and he got a new carb, and it ran like a champ... i sprayed starting fluid in the carb, so even if the carb was bad it would still start up with starting fluid right???? otherwise what could be possible problems? a loose ground?? fuel pump?? it just scares me because from my knowledge of working on cars, the motor could be blown up, and some starting fluid would still bring back for at least a few seconds... any help??? and yeah there was one thing i did differently, for my boost gauge, there was this sensor on the side with the line i need going to it, and the hose was already broke off right there, so i didnt even TEE it off and put it on to the sensor, it was just a little nub and i could figure that out... i dont know if that would cause a problem but someone please help, the car was just comin together...

As long as it wasn't a vac line off the carb or anything that got left open shouldn't be a big deal. Yousay it ran fine for a day after you got the guage put in adn now all of a sudden it won't start. It won't start off starting fluid so I would check to see if you at least have spark and verify that all your connections are good. Easy way to check for spark is pull a boot off, stick a screwdriver on the end of it and arc it off some metal, or you can go buy a spark tester;) . 3 basic things you need for motor to run:air spark fuel

and another thing i forgot to ask.... what carbs can go on these motors???? ive been doing a little research and i found that older chevy trucks with the 350 use the e4me carb... and u can always swap a nice edelbrock carb on a 350... it'd be nice to swap this carb out with a better one instead of stock... anybody let me know what info you have.. thanks again

i have air, and based on the fact that starting fluid wouldnt even make it fire... i have fuel... so spark does seem like the problem... where would all the connections be possible to be wrong distributor, wires plugs??? or a loose ground??? am i missing anything?

OK First, do you have spark? Do you have fuel? If the car was running after you put the boost gauge on it then it probibly isn't the item you installed. Check for Spark and fuel. When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? It's located in the inlet of the carb. Your'e describing a problem that isnt what i seems.

It's a computer controled carb, that's the one you have to use. Would have been better if you posted in the right section, but

What he said

i tested my spark, and yes i have spark.... i have compression, and i DEFFF have fuel considering its flying up out of the carb... its trying to fire when the intake valve are open because it is off time... so its all off... The timing chain was the problem and it suckkssss..... and im not gonna make a whole new section for the carb lol what do i look like?? it was just a small little question to throw in, its not that serious... carbed in the title, and the hot air section is good enough... but anyway, hopefully she'll run perfect after its all completed...

jim meant the before black section is the one for carb/turbos. you can ost wherever you want but the guys who know carb/turbos are in the before black section!
