So what did we decide here? And how about comparing the fibreglass vs the CF? Which one would look the best painted? Don't want any "wavies" showing after it's done :)

Glad you brought this up, I would like to know the weight savings. Billy A had a glass hood on his car and did not like the fit and changed it before I bought car. I would try a CF providing quality and price were good:cool:

If these hoods fit right and they are around 6-8 hundred, that is a deal guys. I just got a pair of carbon doors and a carbon front clip for the racecar from vfn, and the fit is terrible, like two inches off in places. Sent it all back, but the point is I had to wait almost 2 months for $3300 worth of crap. If this guy can make doors, front clips or hoods, bring it on, I will buy whatever he has.:)

Duane does some quality work. Iv friends with one of his supra buddies (its michelle duane, you can ask her bout brad and she'll know...) but his supra has some nice quality stuff.

I also do carbon work. But I do motorcycle stuff, currently way tied up into yamaha 99-02 and 03-05 R6 stuff and bunch of hayabusa body work.

Soon as I get more time im going to work out a carbon hood for my dad (for you nw guys he is Ken Bodhaine).

Whatever became of all this?

My Glasstek Hood and Trunk are not that great and I might consider switching if the price and fit are right.

I've been looking for this thread.

I too, am interested. Did this get off the ground. If so how much did these go for and are they still available?
Thanks

That's a lot of coin even for a carbon hood. That f**ker better fit perfect....

they would be cheaper if more then lets say 20 people bought them

someone should get on all 3 forums or however many there are and do a 20+ min group buy on em...Then they will sell cus people will posts pics ect. and be proud of em. $750 is wayyy high compared to import prices on cf hoods, this is why i suggest the multi forum group buy. Selling 20+ as a minium would surly bring that price down.

But simply put, the more u buy then cheap it costs. Just my 2 cents.

Just curious.......how much weight savings over the fiberglass counterpart

Joe

Kirbans site says the Stock hood is 55lbs and their fiberglass hood is 28lbs. $359 for the Kirban peice, BTW.

Earlier in this thread, someone said the CF hood "Saves 35 - 40lbs". That would make it maybe 20-15lbs??? Can someone chime in and say for sure?

I know this is an old thread but has this went anywhere or does any have the carbon fiber hood from year one?

thanks,
doug
