Car was box stock,changed inj. & chip today.K now it dentonates at 13 lbs boost or higher,w my new blue tops & RED 93 Armstrong Chip,[Im using 94 pump gas]Im still running fact pump[not hot-wired]will install 255lph Holley Pump tommorrow should that clear it up?-
 
And there was zero knock before changing injectors and chip?

Make sure the new chip is properly calibrated for that size fuel injector, otherwise it'll be delivering the wrong amount of fuel.

Fuel pump+hotwire should help, the factory pump can hardly keep up with the demands of the stock system, now that you have different injectors you should take care of the other weak points of the fuel system.
 
just a thought

also check the vac lines and make sure all is plugged back in properly and all bolts tightened, might be a good time to change the fuel filter also....
 
Ya Vacume lines are fine,I replaced a few yesterday,when I did the injectors.Ill do the filter at the same time I do the Pump.Had no knock before w stock inj. & chip,so Im guessing my stock fuel system[& probably clogged fuel filter]is the nasty culprit!Jackass who had it before me trusted a shop that had no business working on a TR.Car had wrong Mass Air[one that was necked down]Wrong TPS,Orig. coil pack[well over 100K]Wrong plugs,cheap wires,light duty 200r-Geesh!!List goes on-LOL!!
 
You need a 237 or adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a reds chip.
 
Well I installed new 255lph fuel pump & new filter,removed stock cat w test pipe,car feels way stronger,but still detonates around 13lbs boost!?Is hotwiring the pump that important?Could it go from knocking to no knocks if the pump isnt/is hotwired?Now with the new blue tops in it,I would think my fuel system should be ok?Im using an adjustable reg set at 43lbs vac off.Car has new coil pack,wires & I went with Accel plugs[equivelnt to Autolites-23]Gee Im really hoping that Hotwire does the trick?Im only running a 93 chip w 94 octane gas.Should I add some fuel pressure-just in case the gauge is off?
 
I went with NGK UR5 plugs, they are a little cooler than stock. Also what are your O2s, somewhere between 720-800mV?

Doesn't make any sense that you'd be getting knock retard at only 13# of boost.....
Are you sure your boost gauge is accurate?
What chip are you running?
What changed to cause this problem to all of a sudden show up?
Are you sure your knock sensor isn't over torqued, making it too sensative? 14 ftlbs. is spec.

As for the accel plugs.... pull them out and take a look at them after a few hundred miles. You'll likely see soot tracks on the ceramic from cylinder pressure blowing through the plug between the ceramic and steel body.
Cheap junk plugs.
 
Logic dictates that your chip is not calculated for your mods. You said it ran fine prior to installing the chip and injectors right? So the problem most likely lies within those components.
 
Im using a Red Armstrong 93 Chip cal.for the blue tops.They were both used in my friends GN,& worked %100,w low miles on them[he went to bigger ones].As far as boost gauge goes,Im using the stocker,so today Ill be installing an Autometer unit.Im not even at full throttle & she's pinging!Tranny is on its way out,so hard to get %100 throttle w/o it zinging!I swapped in those Accel plugs prior to the injector/chip change,& car seemed to run well with them.But for what its worth I may try Autolites-23.
 
The stock boost gauge is useless!! Definitely put in a new trans before anything else, i highly recommend Brian H's trans also.
