I have my trans completely disassembled now (after the pump failure) and its pretty dirty inside from (I guess) metal particles. The question is... Do I hit it with degreaser and power wash it with water, or is it a solvent tank only item? The only concern I have with the water is, I have heard it has bad effects on clutch material in the event that I don't get every last drop out of the case. I plan to use compressed air to try and get it all tho. How do you Pros do it? TIA -Chuck

With hot tanks!!

Although i don't have one anymore. I take my bare cases to my local parts store / machine shop and have them cleaned in their hot tank {which is aluminum friendly. Any hot tank with a highly caustic solution over a ph 14- 16 level will etch aluminum. I'll be darned if HS chemistry did pay off after all. }. :D :D
