What's the best way to install this? The instructions are somewhat vauge in that it says 'insert a hose in the spark plug hole and when you feel pressure on your thumb' blah blah blah. Mine is down now and I can't spin it with the starter, but it would be much easier to install it now that the front clip is off. Anyone else that has done this please chime in.

I just turned mine over with a breaker bar and a friend had his finger in the plug hole. Air started pushing out and I stopped at TDC. Stuck the tape thingy on there half assed and dialed it in. very slick tool.

The instructions are pretty decent I think, should be 2 pages there. You bring #1 cylinder to TDC on the exhaust stroke which will be 0 on the plastic balancer marker and the notch on the balancer. Follow instructions from there and you will be good to go. 25 deg. ATDC is about 1.45" from the notch on the balancer.

You need to measure 1.45" (counter clock wise) from the TDC mark. I just did mine this last weekend.

Wouldn't hurt to keep your stock cap handy as well when your Caspers cap craps the bed. Been through 2 already.....

Lemme help untangle this web of sh*t:

The Cam Sensor Cap w/LED is not the same as the older Cam Sensor Tool. With the newer Cam Sensor Cap, indexing the timing mark is not necessary as it is with the older tool.

Assuming you can bump the motor over w/the starter, a $5 remote starter switch is a great help. You can just stick your finger in the hole and bump the motor over until you feel the air blowing out. No sweat.

You ain't kidding. I bought a "refurbished" one, it failed 5 minutes after the car was running. Sent it back and have yet to install the "new" one. Put the original one back on there and have been golden ever since.

There is only one "TDC" and that is when the piston is at the top of the compression stroke. The top of the exhaust stroke is just that and is also the beginning of the intake stroke... and isn't ever referred to as "TDC". (Top Dead Center)

The cam sensor is set at 25 degrees ATDC (After top dead center)
Installing it at the top of the exhaust stroke will put it 180 degrees off.
The led cap has slots in it, which allow 25 degrees adjustment in either direction.

You put the #1 cylinder at TDC, alinging the mark in the balancer exactly at zero on the timing tab. This is "TDC" on the compression stroke, provided it pushed your finger out of the sparkplug hole. LEAVE it at TDC and make the 25 degree compensation using the slots in the sensor cap. Follow the instructions included with the cap and it will put you right on the money, 25 degrees ATDC.

Here's the online instructions:

Accurate cam sensor adjustment is critical... so read the instructions over and over until you understand them. Take your time and do it right the first time...

Oooops pardon me, I was thinking of the compression stroke. Thanks.

Bringing this back.
The instructions tells you to do all kinds of stuff then toward the end it says this
If you are only replacing the cam sensor cap and do not intend to make any sensor adjustments, simply install the new sensor cap as illustrated above.

So how do you install it.

If the car was running with oe sensor, you should be able to swap the cap without any adjustments.
