Can anybody recomend a good catback exhaust? Not looking for really high end system .Just something with a nice growl to it.
Thanks

Pypes & RJC make a nice exhaust system. Pypes is a good value plus it can be purchased through Summit to save on shipping.

Big brown truck showed up with the Pypes cat back today, looks good will post up and let ya know how it is

Pypes is what I have. Get the one with the racepro mufflers. My car was stone stock at the time I installed it. Picked up 4 tenths. Summit has the best prices.

I believe even Kirban has the Pypes system on his site. The Hooker system is mild steel and the Pypes is stainless so it will last longer, plus, it's made in the USA.:)

Ive had both the Hooker & the Pypes and they both have their up and downs. Hooker - better sound, perfect fitment, will rust since its aluminized. Pypes - doesnt sound or fit as well as the Hooker but it is stainless and after 5 years not a spot of rust. If I could have it both ways Id take the Pypes kit with the Hooker Aerochamber mufflers.

Sorry to say this but the Pypes system is made in China now. I kind of figured once it became available in Summit that it may be Chinese. I called & was able to verify that yes it is all manufactured in China.

That just blows! Glad I didn't buy from them now. I'll be making my own 3" system.:D

Pypes has always been made in China, might have been "assembled" here as in put into a box, but thats about it. Either way it is stainless and doesnt rust far as I can tell.

The same Hooker catback has been on my car since I brought it home June 25th, 2007. No holes, no rust. Nothing. Probably 6+ years old by now.

I also have a Hooker cat back with Aero chamber mufflers thats been on my GN since 2001. Same thing, no rust or holes. I can't complain here!

But does the Hooker system even come close to flowing as good as the Pypes system? Anybody got any flow data on this? As I said before, my car picked up 4 tenths with the Pypes kit. That is a heck of a lot from just a catback exhaust system change. I neglected to mention that the air was much worse when I ran it with the new Pypes system. It was at least 30 degrees hotter and a lot more humidity. I think if the air was comparable, it would have been at least 5 to 6 tenths instead of just 4.

Mine's the RJC 3" stainless catback, single to muffler, then dual...(all stainless 304, not the 409 cheap stainless......very nice "growl" sounds just great....expensive...yes...well worth it....yes. So pretty that I really didn't want to put it on the Grand National......real nice system, very well put together, fits like a glove.

If you like a real nice growly dual exhaust from the catalytic converter, also stainless, I recommend Mark's beautiful system at TR Custom Parts....this has the dual mufflers, and also a beautifully put together system....too pretty also to put on a car. Expensive, too, but, a usual with Mark and RJC,you really get what you pay for.....both excellent. One single 3" from cat, the other dual 3" from the cat....personal preference.

I can't comment on that, as both of my Turbo Regals I've purchased have had the Hooker kit already on them.

Did you go from a factory exhaust to the Pypes kit?

I know I ran a 11.98 with the stock wheel through the Hooker exhaust, so I know it has to flow pretty decently. Just my honest opinion here.

Yep, it had the stock exhaust on it.
