I have found why my bearings look bad, as if something has went through them. The factory coating on the bottom of my intake is flaking off and dropping in the oil. I try to be VERY clean when assembling an eng. but the last 2 times I have had it down, I was surprised to see my bearing showing scratches in them. Guess it is time to blast the underside BARE.
Might want to inspect your next time off.

I have soaked all my hotair intakes at work in a big vat of carb cleaner. They all came out perfectly clean and I will have them coated before I use any of them to avoid that very problem. I noticed one of the first extra intakes I bought that the lifter valley area was flaking also.
