i have a current turbo which has what appears to be the same center section and same exhaust housing as an older turbo i had which blew an exhaust seal and thats it, i was wondering if i could put the old compressor wheel and housing on the new turbo, as they are bigger than the current turbos, and i felt a dramatic loss in power when i put this turbo on, just wondering if this is an appropriate idea, and how to go about getting the old compressor wheel and new compressor wheel on, thanks

If it’s a larger mm wheel, I’d say machining would be needed for the housing.

However, you might could put your old housing and wheel on it.

awesome thats what i thought, i was gonna rebuild the old one, but then i realized how much a new shaft was gonna cost from tubonetics, since it broke when i was taking the nut off...go figure, so id much rather do this since this turbo is newly rebuild, and yes i would be putting the other turbo compressor housing on

Depends on the balancing..

It all depends on how each were balanced. If one of them was balanced as a single piece, turbine and compressor together (usually has grinding on the nut), then you'll have to get the new assembly rebalanced. If both were individually balanced (grinding on the wheel itself) then I think you should be ok. However, if you have someone local that can do it, I'd probably do it anyway just for insurance.
