ive been told that if you change to a 160 degree thermostat you can run into problems? i dont think ihave the stock chip is there a way to tell? what problems can you run into?

~i have 36lb injectors so can the chip be stock?

Chip should not be stock with 36 lb injectors. Pull the ECM cover and see what sticker is on the chip. It may give you some clue as to who's it is. 160 stat will not hurt anything except the ability for the car to go into closed loop idle, your chip may be burned to run in open loop at idle anyway. Change the stat you should not have any problems, except passing the emission test depending on where you live.

You shouldn't have any issues with the stat.

Car will be running at 180 anyway in the summer.

I've passed emissions for many years with the 160 stat.

It's always a very good idea to know who's and what type chip is in the car, one of the first questions you should have asked the previous owner.

Might want to consider asking him anyway the data might come in handy.

Chips are WAY underrated for driveability problems with peoples cars. ;)

Especially the unkown ones.
