Copy and paste: aim:gochat?roomname=turbobuick+Chat

Perhaps this could be our chat room? All you need to do is download AOL instant messenger and register a screenname. You DO NOT need an AOL subscription to do this. Lets see how many people are able to do this and maybe we can have a new cheap and free chat.

wow, about 8 people at 3pm today... don't forget to click file and save shortcut so you can click on the link anytime you're signed onto AOL....

James

Don't get it..

Pardon the ignorance, but I don't get it. You say just type that and go?? On what?? Explorer??? AIM??

Sorry, maybe I missed something. I don't use the AIM program to get into AIM.

no cw, we do need more info...ive been using AIM for 6 years and i dont know what bishir means either...

1.) Log into AIM

2.) Copy and paste the following line into your browser exactly how it looks (yes it looks weird, but works). Make sure you DONT put http or www before it:

aim:gochat?roomname=turbobuick+Chat

ok..I have aol and when i click on the link it displays the title of the room, but nothing there...

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Just copy and paste the following like you would a web address and hit enter: aim:gochat?roomname=turbobuick+Chat

This should open a chat window. If there are others in the room they will be displayed on the upper right. You can proceed to use your AIM buddy list to invite people to chat. Lets try to give it a trial run tonight...

I already put one in place.

Why do we need two? We are building the irc one as we go here but for now what is wrong with this?http://www.2004rperformancecenter.com/chat/
Works great and everybody seems to be enjoying it. I didnt take the time to set up for you to sluff it off. Hell, next time I just won't bother. Like I don't have enough to do....

I've been to your site a few times looking for a chat and nobody was there. The post today about AIM users got me thinking that there are quite a few of us that use AOL messenger. There were 10 people at one time tonight in chat. That was pretty respectable for 1 night.

IRC sucks, and dont take it the wrong way, he didnt make this chat room to push you off, just for people who have AIM and dont want too many different chat programs open..... hostility in the water;)

Of course, I'll have to chime in and differ. The IRC chat rooms for the Buicks are both very helpful source, not to mention a lot of fun. The only problem that I do find, that perhaps you won't have with this AIM chat is the fact that some people are just lurking when you go in the room. Most people leave the computers and IRC clients online. The same will probably be true for this AIM. Still, have fun. You also mention that you didn't like the idea of different chat programs open. There are several clients available that allow you to have all of your chat media open on one program, like yahoo, AIM, MSN, IRC, ICQ, etc.

Not meaning to be the smart A$$ but there ARE two chat rooms. #turbobuick and #buickGN. I used to visit #turbobuick until it went down and I haven't tried the temporary one yet, but I'll be sure to. But there are two IRC chat rooms, both of them seem to have helpful, fun and knowledgable people on them. I don't think anybody is trying to say they don't appreciate your effort in getting the chat back up. I think bashir was simply trying to show people how AIM can be formed as a chat room instead of a one-on-one platform. No harm, no foul.
:)

That may have come across wrong

No hostility. Just frustration from this damn injury. Take no offense and don't listen to me. I was just whining. I am allowed to do this these days as I cannot seem to get ahead. This cast thing is killing me. Please, nobody take offense. All you can do to improve is swell. I am just upset with MYSELF lately. :D

hehehe you seemed a little on the bitter side, now i know why
i never broke a bone(knock on wood) and i bet it itches like hell!

Bruce, I can't get into chat :-(

It lets me into the room but after that nothing happens.

Suggestions?

I tried it from Safari (Apple web browser) and from Explorer.

You need AOL instant messanger

Best way to get the chat room

1: add your own name to your buddy list
2: send your self a test message with the adress bishir provided
3: click the link and off you go
