Man, I wish my car was a bone stock RUNNING car when I got it. Instead of a jigsaw puzzle. Most of the stuff that Ive had problems with are just stupid.
Okay, Im not going to start ranting. Once again I learn something else about this car. After the other thread about the "Y" pipe, I finally got around to checking mine. As I suspected (because I put this car together almost from scratch), it was just a regular "Y" vac connector, probably from the "help" isle at Auto Zone. I went over to a stock motor that Ive got and took the "Y" pipe from it, and wouldnt you know, its got a restrictor in it. I put it on the car and took it out for a ride. It was starting to rain so I couldnt go too crazy, but all of a sudden I had better spool, and my boost which I thought was set at about 19psi shot up to about 24psi
. Of course I backed off (thank you Casper's audible knock detector), before it went any higher (Im pretty sure it would have).
Guys, if you dont already know for sure that youve got it, take the time to check. Its definately worth it. To think, Ive probably got a few of them laying around with all the parts Ive accumulated. I just didnt know anything about it. Thats the beauty of having this board
. One of these days Im going to get it together and run some REALLY nice non-intercooled times....... just need to make sure I dont have any other stupid stuff to find out about
