Checking roller cam end play with intake installed

I wanted to check the cam end play on a assembled engine but did not want to pull the intake. Looking at the motor I discovered a simple way to do it. I removed the little plate (fuel pump provision) on the side of the front cover and gained access to the cam. From there is pretty cut and dry. Simply use a long screwdriver on the gear to pry the cam in and out. It works even better than going through the valley holes.

Just thought I would share.

you can check it by pulling cam sensor also
