Seems like Im always asking questions. Here goes another one.

My brother has a 96 Chevy Silverado diesel pickup. He was having a stumbling problem, and decided to clean out the fuel filter thing. It was removed, flushed out, and put back on, but now it wont start. Sounds like it lost its prime, but wont get it back. Is there a trick to this, it just cranks over and over. There is a purge valve that you crack open for something.

Any help would be appreciated, as always. Thanks.

Try cutting a hole in a tennis or racket ball and poking another hole in the ball for an air nozzle. Stick the nozzle on the ball, press the ball against the filler neck, and pressurize the tank.

ETHER!!

haha...

BTW, the mid to late 90's 6.5 Turbodiesel GM trucks were notorious for injectorpump problems.

Just some advice: Keep 12 oz or so diesel fuel on the side and fill the filter housing prior to putting the top back on. Sometimes taking the little plug in the center and sucking fuel into the housing usig a hand held vacuum pump works. As you found out, a weak lift pump will cause that too.
