I want to try a different chip. Just want to see if I can find something better than the Trasher. I was thinking either Red Armstong's or Jim Testa's chip for Blue Tops. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks! :)

I've been running Jay Carter chips, available through Cotton's Performance. I've been very happy with them so far.

Since you run a T+/3', I would have to say an Extender (High Mass Air Flow), particularly with the added features of the current revision that is available. Everyone that I know who has gone to one has been thoroghly impressed with the Extender.

(No, I don't work for them... I just believe in this product.)

Oh, and by the way, if you choose to go this route, figure our which chip would be "perfect" for you and then go 1 or more steps further. Since you have the T+, if you find it too agressive you could always back it down. I found the "98 Octane" chip very nice with 21*/23* 1-2/3-4 timing and 85/80 1-2/3-4 WGDC, though I always run 100 octane unleaded.

On order now is a revision similar to the 104 but with 95/90 1-2/3-4 WGDC to help eliminate some of the part throttle (but now quite WOT) boost sprike when i first squeeze on the power. I would recommend the same if you are running 2-3 boost at levels approaching 25 & up.

See the Extender Manual to figure out your chip.

Go with the RA chip, thats what I have. Works great with the blue tops.

i've also heard horror stories with the chip. I'm new to tuning these cars so i really don't want to get into changing stuff at this point, the only reason why i got the T+ is because i got it cheap.

I think i might be contacting Mr. Red soon :D

Ugh. Don't do it man. Go with the Extender, you absolutely will not be sorry. The chip by itself is awesome and you can just set it and forget it if that is what you want to do. If you want to start playing later on down the road it gives you the option to do so. Even if you buy a chip from Red, you will still have to tune it in to your car the first time you install it. Ramchargers/Bob Bailey can burn the chip to work perfectly with the version of the T+ you are already using. I think it would be silly to go with any other chip than the Extender since you are looking to buy a chip anyways. Adjustability for the future is the way to go and Red cannot give you that with the T+.

i would go with a red armstrong chip works great with those when i had those blue tops by the i sold those to you

Stories from whom?.
If someone can't get an Extender to work right, they have other issues, and are trying to cure some other mechanical problem by hobbling things together chipwise.

Way too often someone get too small of injectors, and buys into some theory about using a *static* chip. The problem is they screwed up in slecting the injectors, or were trying to save a buck on not modifiing the ecm, and then their cheapness bite them.

If you're doing the car right, either get an Extender, or learn how to burn your own chips to capitialize on the Translator+. If you want to learn to do your own chips be prepared for some serious learning.

What horror stories?? I'm guessing it's from people that don't know how to tune. Extender chips are excellent.

FWIW, Jim Testa's specialty is chips for blue tops.

I'd float him an email.
