i've never owned a car with a upgraded chip and wanted to know where it would be located? i'd like to know what's in it since i just purchased the car and i'm sure you guys know exactly where it's at with a simple response. Is it behind the passenger side kickpanel? is it in the brain if that's where it's located at? Any do's and don't if and when i get a chance to get to it and see what's there? like remove negative or positive cable from the battery before you remove the chip, or before you unplug the brain of the car?

thanks

Yup passenger side kick panel. There is a little window with two screws on the case of the ECM and the chip is behind there.

Yes disconnect the battery before messing with it.

Also not a bad idea to ground yourself to eliminate any static electricity that could fry something:cool:

chip

ok so grounding myself how? i've never done it and i have done car audio alot and everyone's had a spark or 2 ( cheap man's 12 volt ) just to see if there is fire there. So disconnect the battery cable and there shouldn't be any issues? not worried about radio, and not much electronically that i think i won't mess anything up. SMC pump control which doesn't matter, and nothing else so i shouldn't have to worry about anything else if it's pretty much stock? or should i not worry about disconnecting the battery as long as i don't turn it on with the chip out or brain unplugged. Sorry if the ?'s are coming from left field but i just want to make sure before i do something i'll be cussing myself for later.

chip

and i wasn't plannin on turning it on without the chip, as stated i know the questions seem juvenile but i'd rather seem that way on a post then regret it later.
