Chrome Wheel Storage

Just put CI GNX style wheels on the GN (with nittos)

Anyway, want to save my original equipment chrome wheels. What's the best way to store them so they don't deteriate? Should I take the tires off or doesn't it matter? Anything I can use to clean the backsides to minimize chance of rust?

Wax front and back, don't wipe off. Wheelbearing grease on the beads, WD40 down the middle. Wrap 'em in a plastic bag and try to keep them from seeing hot and cold extremes (basement comes in handy here). A dessicant in each bag wouldn't be bad insurance either. Tires need to be in an opaque bag too. No special prep there; UV rays are the enemy.
