hi guys, here is a link to some interesting photographs re: the installation of an aod in a buick gn. this trans was installed by lou czarnota of orange county california. the page is only temperorary so you can get an idea, and will be updated in a few days to include all the tech info on this trans like the others listed on our site. keep visiting until the pics of the car are visable on the page. they are being created as we speak.

thanks for the pictures chris, when is the car going to be driven, and were there any other issues besides the bellhousing and crossmember.

by tonight there should be alot more pictures on the page so keep checking, and of course the car has been driven.crossmember and drive shaft ,and tv cable must be set using a presure gage using the factory gn brackets and a one piece cable.keep checking the page until you see the other pictures,

Looks like you need to put together a kit for this. You could be on to a new avenue for the transmission challenged.

Hes allready got a "kit" for this, tranny is sold with everything you need to put it in a GN.

Chris if I want to upgrade my pan can I buy a deep pan or are these the factory deep pan that they dont sell an aftermarket pan for??? Also what do I do for a dipstick?? What length??

Thanks again Chris for giving us yet another option to the accident prone 200r4 :D

Keep up the good work CK Performance.:D

please remember that there is some fabrication necessary such as shortening the driveshaft, and modifying your original x member.we will soon offer the x member bracket in a weld in version which will be easier to install than the version available now.the speedometer issue is being worked out now as the current set up only works with a digital dash.the transmission and convertor will bolt right up to the engine as you can see, thanks.

thats one of the cleaner cars i have seen in a while, trans looks right at home, looks like a viable option for those in the high HP street car scene, crossmember looks about perfect too, great work to yourself and lou.

Thanks for the complement, It is indeed one of the nicest street Buicks around. The whole project has been very challangeing. It is a full Stage II swap. The engine puts out 720 RWHP & as much torque @ 21# boost & made short work of the built 200 trans that was orginally tried. Chris & I are still working out the details on the right stall convertor. Valve body & speedo. As soon as these issues are resolved. I will provide a detailed description of the results. I think that Chris is a stand up guy to work with as well as John Lehman the vehicle owner. If the AOD idea can hold up behind this car I think Chris is on to something good & that should benefit anyone who has reached the limits of the 2004R

Reserecting this thread

I have been looking for more info on the AOD swap, but there's not been much posted. So I have a few questions,

Are there " How To " instructions and directions out there to perform the swap?

Does the AOD bellhousing bolt right up to a 3.8 production block?

If there is a " kit " out there to install an AOD in a GN, what comes in this kit and how much? Or is this kit complete with tranny and everything?

I'm really thinking about doing this. A good friend of mine ( who's a mustang guy ) has a good and running AOD that he will give to me for FREE. So needless to say I would be very interested in doing this. Who makes the hybrid converter that is used for this swap?

Those in the know please shed some light on this please. Thanks!!!!

will it bolt up , no, but you can cut the stock belhousing off and get a conversion housing from JW for 300 i believe, other than that there is no kit, unless chris at CK trans wants to make and sell you the mounts.
