I recently bought a 87 gn from a guy who owned a bodyshop. The car was in there for years and has alot of bodyshop dust and some type of pink/purple spatters on it. Paint looks decent, so is there anything special i should use other than just car wash soap to remove the residue. I dont want to make a bunch of scratches in the paint. Thanks
Greg

Start with car wash soap and see where it gets you. If nothing else, you want it clean before proceeding anyway. Next, I'd try a good clay bar. If you've never done it before, it's pretty straight forward. Follow the instructions or any number of online how-tos. If spatters still remain, get yourself some cloth diapers and lightly rub them off with some acetone. Be careful here, as a little goes a long way; too much WILL lift paint off. After that, polish and wax as normal.

Thanks guys, to elaborate a little on the pink/purple splatters after looking closely this morning. they appeared to be a liquid that dripped on the car then dried to a powdery substance. It does not look like paint. Thanks,
Greg

There's a good chance that the clay bar will remove it then. The acetone is more of a last resort thing.

the splatters could be rubbing or polishing compound i know ardex has a compound that color.
