cleaning pcv in line check valve?

I know the pcv valve itself needs a cleaning once in a while. What about the inline check valve that connects behind it? Does that need cleaning or only the pcv?

I use brake cleaner and blow it out with compressed air. I am using a Pete Tomka valve in-line with a GM PCV valve. I replace the PCV valve every year though(I don't clean it).
