Clinging sound when I shift into Drive...

Hey..whenever I shift from park to drive, or reverse to drive, etc I hear clinging sound like the car shifts hard into drive. The idle isn't high at all when this happens..and it doesnt happen ALL the time. My brother had a similar problem and it ended up being the U-Joints, but when I had my car on a lift the other day when we put the tires on, my friend (the one who repaired the U-joints for my bro) said that he doesn't think it's U-Joints..so what else could it be??

Don't worry alot of us have that sound (some play in the rearend).
If I press down hard on brakes before shifting, it does not make as much noise.

Its not your car making that noise. You are hearing my car clunking into gear all the way from Michigan

Thanks alot guys..now I don't feel so alone.
and it also doesn't do it all the time and maybe I can relate to that other thread and say maybe it happens when the car revs a tad higher when in park as I shift to drive.
