I've read a few past threads with some of you experiencing Code 42 with a Translator plus.

Has anyone determine the fix on it? Is it the electronics in the translator box?

The code goes away when I bypass the plug from the translator box. This just appeared today.

Past threads did not show a fix with the trans plus.

Let me know what you guys found out to get it fixed.

Danny,do you have directscan?I thought mine was the T+ also but it turned out to be interference caused by the ribbon cable from the direct scan box.I unhooked it and it never came back.I think it can be fixed by sheilding the cable in foil or something.

No direct scan, only the scanmaster.

I wonder why I never had it before until tonight on my last run of all things.

I got one this week myself.

Unplugged direct scan and it didn't cure it.

I am thinking it's chip to socket connections or else socket to ecm connections.

Modified used ECM for 55's in my car with translator plus and extender extreme chip.

Mine is intermittant and done it twice now in the 6 months I've had that ECM in the car.

Idle hunts a bit when my car has the problem. TPS is steady when it does it.
 
It's not the iginition module. Changed it out with a new one. It's not spark plug wires. I unplugged the cable connections to the ecm and reseated the calpack and chip, same thing.

Coil pack maybe?

Mine was definately the chip to socket connection at the ECM.

No codes in a while. :)
 
For me it turned out to be the translator plus. Crapped out on me. I bought it used, but should have known it would not last long due to it's condition when i bought it (used and abused).

I bought a new one and all is well now. I at tleast went the procudure for the code 42 and happy to report all points to check per the procedure checked out fine.
