Well , got the new engine together.
New 14 bolt Alu heads,Eagle crank, steel mains ,atr header, roller cam kit.Anyways I started the car yesterday and as soon as the water started to move around ,I had the driver side leaking water out just above the headers1 and 3 cyld.I made sure it wasn't the intake. There was no water in the oil pan.I pressurized the rad with a rad tester and raised the car and you could see the water coming out when I raised the car on the hoist.Yes I also used the thread seal on the head bolts. The passenger side wasn't as bad,but did also leak.I did what was asked with the torque and the arp bolts.65flbs bottom and 75flbs top.Let them sit over night and turned them back a 1/4 turn and retorqued them again. This is a stock block they are done on (machined and ballanced) .Sould I torque them higher or change the HG to somethig else?
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks
Mike K

Header bolt?

I had same problem. I am using cosmetics with alum heads. I traced the leak to one of the header bolts. I think it was the top bolt on #3. Put more water in radiator and remove bolt. If it starts pouring out then you found your leak. Wait for the water to leak out and then use thread sealer and high temp silicone. Maybe you have same problem that I did. Hope this helps. They could have tapped that hole a little too far. Very common. Let us know.

Moroso block seal also works great for sealing leaky heads. I've repaired even blown head gaskets on beater cars with this. I always use this or block seal tablets when building an alum. headed engine. Frank

I have run Cometics for quite a while with iron heads and the torques is 85lb for those. No leaks ever. Hope it the header bolt thing as stated.

Big Mike, any updates? What did you end up doing?

We're having the same problem on a car that we're working on now.

Thanks,
-Banning.

A couple of GM seal tabs will stop the leak, had to do the same thing here and have put around 4k on the motor with no problems.
