I put Comp 885 hydraulic roller lifters in my 274 stroker motor, and the noise was bad at 2000-2500 RPM. Both banks were noisy. Now, after 12,000 miles, they have quieted down to an acceptable level. They still have a light clack at idle, but the upper RPM range is acceptable. I have Champion heads with beehive springs with about 140lbs on the seat. My thought is that the springs have weakened somewhat and the lifters are able to stay pumped up in the lower RPM ranges. Anyone had a similar experience?
