computer upgrade questions

I am planning on switching out my 85 computer to an 87 and was wonderding about sensors. I know I don't necessarily have to have a MAT sensor, but it is a good idea. Is there a stock one on there now? I was mainly wondering though if I get a ls1 maf do I have to also have a translator or will it work ok with just the newer MAF? Also was wondering if and how well it would work with the stock MAF? Thanks!

The newer maf sensors need the translators for them to work with the 87 ecm. Your car won't run good at all with the stock maf and 87 ecm. I even had a chip burnt to run the 85 maf with the 87 ecm and that didn't work out at all. I am currently running the 87ecm, 87maf, no mat yet, and custom chip and she runs nice.
