Is it really fair to allow anyone to post and win? I am just wondering if there could be some sort of minimum post count or something along those lines. I see quite a few junior members with three or four posts signing up in these give aways. A quick search of their posts shows they are only posting in the give away threads. To me, thats sort of like going to church only for the free donuts.

I guess I would like to propose a minimum post count of 20 posts to enter. It would be easy to see if the new members actually want to participate in the forum or just post garbage to get to 20. It would show who really has/wants a TR or TTA and would like to learn about, talk about, or buy parts for their car and who is just here to try and win something they will turn around and sell on EbaY.

Just my .02

Also, when the contest is over can a mod/admin lock the thread so we dont keep having them rise to the top?

Thank you, carry on. :D

I sort of like the way that Shane & Jay currently have it set up, and I think that it is fair to allow any member to post & win, regardless of post count, regardless of current car ownership, & regardless of what their next car purchase will be. Some people do come for the donuts, but stay for the sermon. I think that it is great that we have a forum to come to that allows an open exchange of ideas, has an excellent list of vendors that step up to the plate and donate quality items to be given away for the drawings. Nothing wrong with free donuts, either, maybe more churches should try that. Anyhow, that's just me, I guess.

Ok, you shot me down off my soap box. :D

Any way we could just get the old give away theads locked to stop the entries?

Hm I never noticed that. I wonder how many of those "new" members are multiple accounts for one person. ;)

Jay C has a secret weapon that will infiltrate these guys dual personality postings:biggrin:

I do believe it was brought up in one thread here about this same subject and he knows how to get er dun.

We have ways of knowing:cool:

You also must take into account the new customers that these give aways bring to the vendors. That is one of the reasons they do it. You would be surpised at the number of TR owners there are out there that still haven't heard of TurboBuick.com:eek:

The selection is done using RANDOM.ORG - True Random Number Service I put in the number of post and it picks the winner...... I then verify that the winner is not a duplicate member or posting more then once in the thread. I actually do a lot of work in this.
