For those who may or may not have seen my other threads in the past few months... A direct quote from Bruton Smith...

Smith said work resumed today on the drag strip, and that it will be completed for a National Hot Rod Association event in Sept. 2008.

The proposed track will be the premiere in the nation... :biggrin:

The story behind that track is pretty funny. He was going to spend $60-70 million on the track (maybe 4 lanes), and the local residents started throwing a fit. So, Bruton says, I'll level the nacar track and build the dragstrip and new nascar track in some other city. Now the city has shut up the vocal local residents and has had to come up with $70M in incentives to keep him in town.

$70 million in incentives, the road from the highway into the tracks being renamed after him, some free land given to him for upscale retail outlets and condos, etc... He's definitely a strong-armed businessman... :biggrin:
