I'm rebuilding a retaining wall in my driveway. The old wall was cinderblock and I have got it down pretty easily. They made a concrete footing thats about 16" wide and 8" deep and 20' long. What would work better/faster/easier, a concrete saw to cut the footing into blocks and wedge them out or a demolition hammer to break the concrete up? Both tools are readily available to rent near me. Thanks.

I'd go hammer.

You can cut things with a saw any time you want, but how many opportunities do you get to play with a demolition hammer?

Oh yeah! Get one of those tractors with the hammer!

The demo hammer is an electric one similar to the pneumatic jobs. I'd just like to get the job done quickly and with the least amount of fuss.

call someone and have it done ..thats goin to be the easiest  :p

Na, I'm going back to my Italian roots, stacking rocks...

Bobcat with the jackhammer attachment, quick-cut saw to cut the steel. There are places that will take the debris from you, they recycle.

I used an electric jackhammer. It took me 45 minutes to bust up a footing 16" by 20'. I must have looked funny dancing with that thing. It was pretty heavy and has a mind of it's own but once I got the hang of it I moved along pretty good.

Um backhoe all the way. I do footings and that job with an electric hammer is ganna suck. It takes us 20 min to bust through a footing with a pneumatic hammer. not fun.
