I keep getting told different thing's on what to use when polishing and removing the polish.I've been told not use anything but 100% cotton to polish or detail the car. I phoned around to a couple detail shop's and they have never heard this before all off there cloth's are micro fiber 80 polyester and 20% something else. What is the final word on this?

Confused,

I have been using microfiber towels for about 3 years now, and I wouldn't use anything else since I switched to them. Microfiber towels/cloths are generally made up of anywhere around 75% polyester and the balance polymide. I have seen the polyester as high of a % as 85% and as low as about 65%. 75%-80% polyester seems to work the best for me. Microfiber does require special care though. No artificial drying, such as dryers, no water softners or such in the washing machine with them. I have seen good cotton towels, but very good cotton towels for automotive use are very expensive, and I just use the microfiber towels.
try this site for further info. "Vroom" microfiber towels as sold at "Target Stores" is a pretty good bang for the buck. Study them first or you will be spending more than you should on microfiber towels & so forth. HTH
