Considering selling my GN, am I dreaming on a 60k price?

So... I'm considering selling. considering mostly... but I'm hoping for 60,000 for my 87' with roughly 8,900 miles on it (put 500 on since I inherited it)

The car is original owner by my Dad. After his passing 2 years ago I brought it to my house and started to bring it back from "barn condition" I had it paint restored by Rahal Motorsports in Indy, then had an engine out tune up done, replacing all caskets and other wear parts.

There are 2 things still wrong in the original powermaster brakes are in failure and the head liner is coming down.

I've reached the point where I just don't feel like it fits my needs anymore. I thought I was going to want to keep it since it belonged to my Dad for so long, but it's just not the same now that it's at my house.

Am I DREAMING to think 60,000 dollars private party? I don't really want to auction it. I'm hoping to find someone who thinks it's worth that to own this guy.

But am I sick in the head to think 60?

Marketed the right way could fetch a lot more but you would have to go to an auction and not Fleabay

60k should be easy with that mileage.I ave a 21,000 mile car I’ve been offered 70k and I won’t sell it.

Yes you should fix the issues and ask top dollar. $60K perfectly ok

What do you think you have, a Monte Carlo SS?
Have you seen what people are asking for those with low miles?
Seriously, you fix those issues and you should at least come close to that price.
I've often wondered how many are actually left let alone close to stock.
Although I'll bet that you will regret getting rid of it especially with it being you're Dad's.
If you do you'll be riding a long someplace or doing some auto work and remember back when
and think, "I wish I had kept Dad's car"

Unless you are thirsting for a C8 ZR1, keep it.

You will never find another car in that condition again.

You really need to decide if it's your car to modify and get it where you want it or be content with it the way it is. Even if you leave it alone, take it to shows and cruise it. You will be reminded why not to get rid of it repeatedly.

Agreed cars a conversation piece even when getting gas.

Hey all, original poster here, thanks for the great input!

Yeah, I know it seems odd to be selling something the SEEMS like it might be dear to my family. The problem is that there are a lot of mixed emotions caught up with the car. Not so much with my Dad, loved the guy and could ask for a better father.

But, the car and a few other things like my folks house represent a good bunch of bad memories that I don't really want to remember every time I take it out.

I feel like getting that money, buying myself something newer that represents me would be a good way to still respect the memory of my dad while not having to sit in a car that directly reminds me of some of the nastiness that my wife especially has endured at the hands of my mother!

This is all probably a bit of TMI, but I thought the context would be nice.

If you do end up selling it do so with the current mileage , another 10k miles will drop the value considerably
