I asked Eric about this when I was planning on driving down to Bowling Green for the Nationals. I could have enough gas to get there and race for 3 days but expected to run out and have to gas up on the way home. With the 6.1 chip I could make it home and it would drive but my parameters would need to be reset. I would consider it "limp home" mode..no boosting.

This is exactly why I asked.

Im thinking about getting a GAS chip so I can swap out the E85 chip on long trips.

Ordered gas SD chip. My car ran extremely rich on the E85 chip with gas. Limp home mode is right.

Any ill effects besides just running rich?

30% rich at least. Fouled plugs, washed out rings, thin the oil out and spin all the bearings...

Buy two chips. One E85, one gas. If you get stuck somewhere that doesn't have E85, drive it until it's empty and swap the chip while you're filling it with gasoline.

hmmm. ya, read the post #4 above you.lol
I dont plan on going on any long trips, but after idling the car in the driveway for 15 minutes and fouling the plugs. no way. Gas chip is a must. Thats why im updating this post.... for anyone thinking about running gas whether its on a long trip or a their local pump isnt available anymore.

The first time a new turbo Buick owner visits this site and asks for advise,he is usually told to buy a TT chip and 60 lbs/hr injectors. One can easily get the impression,on this site, that the TT chip is the only chip on the planet. If you get an Extender chip and a Translator Plus (not offered anymore),you have about a 32% fuel adjust ability throughout the entire RPM range plus the ability to adjust spark advance. Because of this,it it the perfect dual fuel setup, but most aren't told about this option because most who respond don't know about it. The Translator (still available) offers the same fuel adjust ability but has no spark adjustment. The currently available Bailey setup,to replace this,is an Extender chip and a 2nd gen Translator. It offers even more adjust ability than the Extender and Translator Plus. These two items, used in conjunction with each other, offer the most adjust ability of anything out there short of a complete aftermarket engine fuel and spark management system. They are meant to be used together to compliment each other and yet I see so many with a Translator and the TT which doesn't allow you to take advantage of all the features of the Translator.

Your chip, the SD chip, has +/-100% overall fuel adjustment (see parameter 7), and it even trims the cranking fuel.
I saw you ordered a pump gas chip, but you can try using the adjustments in your existing chip to tune it in.
Let me know and we can cancel that order if you want.
Regards,
Eric

Nope, only the SD chip.

The last time I was happy with cold start fuel was years ago with the Kenne-Bell chip I was running at the time. I tried the Max Effort and R years ago but was never happy with start,up off idle, and throttle response in general. I spent more time adjusting it than driving the car. Were there things Steve did that you've improved on?

The little time I have with this chip, the first thing I noticed is the throttle response. Lightening fast.!
Out of all the chips I've used on 5 different cars, the throttle response so far is the best of all the TT chips.

This is interesting. Do any of your other chips have this adjustment and/or the 100% fuel swings?

The MAF Translator Gen-2 and Translator Pro have this capability when used with their matching Extender chips.

Because that solution is cumbersome and risky. It was not designed with flex fuel management as a parameter. It's not as easy as simply adjusting the fueling by 30% when you switch fuels. Sure, it would run, but not like it should, an you'd be risking damage if you had to go wide open.

This is what I do frequently with the Trans Plus and Extender Extreme. It is as simple as moving the entire fuel map 30%. It runs great either way. I adjust boost and WOT fuel and away I go. Of course, you want to write down the correct settings for each fuel.
